about

“A rabbit-hole of genres” is just one of the phrases used to describe the music of The Bleeding Obvious: the monicker of Yorkshire lass Jessica Rowbottom, whose new album encompasses everything from pounding electronic club beats to orchestral soundscapes and soulful funk-pop.

Collaborating with over 40 different musicans and vocalists including retro pop-siren Ruby Macintosh, gravelly bluesman Scott Wainwright, poet Ralph Dartford and singer Anthony Jackson-Stubbs of LGBT band Paleday, the collection of 15 songs charts a journey through themes of love, happiness, acceptance, breakup, grief, loss and ultimately optimism.

"Personal yet accessible, tongue in cheek but with a stiletto firmly on the dancefloor, The Bleeding Obvious' debut feels like a passport to a happy land.” - Tom Newton / Yorkshire Post

"Upbeat in nature, the bass and drums pulse and sway, then snap back tight to the groove. Fun, smart lyrics, and full of class, this record is one you’ll want to leave in the car for those long drives, or in your kitchen for late night dance parties.” - Laundry Day Records

"On The Bleeding Obvious’s debut album, the warm welcoming vibes reveals a stylistic eclecticism effortlessly bringing together house, psychedelic, and ambient into a satisfying whole. Reminiscent of Saint Etienne’s “So Tough” the way the songs unfurl is quite extraordinary.” - Beachsloth
